Ms Natasha has a proven track record in improving students’ grades. She ensures students retain and apply knowledge by relating ideas to their personal experiences and opinions, and by breaking down complex concepts into structured concrete steps. Her interest lies in making learning bother relevant and enjoyable. Her current pursuits include the applications of technology and game design in classroom learning.

Ms Lyn’s lessons are very flexible and interactive, allowing her students to focus on the areas that require improvement. Having accumulated teaching experience, she shares useful tips and notes to better her students’ understanding in class. Giving feedback for student’s writing assignments has enabled her students to review and improve their writing techniques. Her lessons are interesting, coupled with critical response practices which provides students with a safe place to develop creative thinking skills.

Mr Dominic is a very patient teacher who believes that English is an immersive language that is best learnt and appreciated through conversations and love for books. With 5 Years of experience teaching children between the ages of 6-8 year old, Mr Dominic hopes that children not only learn a language but also have a disposition to want improve on the language themselves. Mr Dominic is committed to help students build their confidence in the English Language so that children will be confident in expressing themselves.

As the principal of Brain Matter, Ms Phoebe firmly believes in creating an environment of teaching that encourages independent learning. Applying deliberate questioning techniques in her teaching, she helps her students derive answers without spoon-feeding them. Every student is gifted with different strengths and she seeks to help her students be the best they can be.

An innovative and passionate educator, Mr Calvin is a veteran teacher in Brain Matter. He seeks to inculcate a keen sense of learning in students by teaching from real life examples. Imbuing the values of discipline, focus and understanding in the concepts are his strength. His teaching method has consistently helped many students make tremendous improvements.In her 33 years with MOE, Miss Chai has taught Mathematics and Additional Mathematics to students with a wide range of ability. She believes that all students can develop a love for the subject given the right motivation. Many of her students have grown to appreciate the subject and did very well in their examinations. She ensures that students received all the necessary help to progress to their next stage of studies, and is sensitive to students’ needs.

Mr Bernard believes that self-learning, through asking questions and discussion among students in a group setting, will help students to develop problem solving skills Explanation of concepts is done using simply analogy and real life examples to aid understanding. To build confidence in solving problems, students will attempt simple questions first and as they get more familiar in applying what they have learnt, they can attempt more challenging questions in a safe and encouraging environment.

Mr Kok is a veteran educator in the industry. But more than his unbeatable length of experience, he has a great heart to work with students who are struggling with their Sciences. His teaching experiences have given him opportunities to work with low ability students and this defined his teaching style. His strength lies in being able to explain science concepts simply and teach them in an understandable way for students.

Mr Adrian Ong is passionate about technologies and teaching hence he is a Science brainiac. He strongly believes that every student is gifted and can be success after figuring their own learning methodology. He is very experienced tutor, able to understand student’s struggle and guide them on simplifying learning and grabbing important concepts, most importantly skills on how to answer exam questions. His approach is towards interactive learning, where he will use examples elaboration and practice together to build up student’s problem-solving skills and confidence. His teaching method has consistently helped student achieve significant improvement after they cope with learning pace.

Don’t be fooled by Mr Lymon’s army specs and casual demeanour, he has a decade of tutoring and curriculum development experience under his belt! A chemical engineer by training, he has been coaching students in sciences since graduating from NUS in 2013. His favourite subjects are chemistry and biology.
Mr Lymon believes that a tutor does not merely tutor; a tutor is also an academic mentor and coach. As such, he strives to be approachable and build rapport with his students in class, as he feels that a student’s learning journey is greatly enhanced by being immersed in an engaging and comfortable environment.
Don’t be afraid to ask “silly” questions, because to Mr Lymon, there’s no such thing as a “stupid” question. Afterall, “Being bad at something is the first step to being sort of good at something!” – a wise man

Mr Noel Ong

Mr Noel Ong is a NIE-trained MOE teacher who has more than 18 years of teaching experience. Having spent all his 18 years teaching in a typical Singapore neighbourhood school, he has much experience in raising the grades of students who were formerly struggling with SS and History. He was teaching SS when the subject was introduced in 2001, and so has a wealth of knowledge concerning how this subject is taught, examined and assessed. Mr Noel is also very well versed in the current SS syllabus (rolled out in 2016) as he was part of the team of MOE teachers selected to evaluate the textbook as it was being written, and also to pilot the lesson plans and materials that were included with the syllabus text. Finally, he strongly believes that both SS and History need not be dry or ‘boring’; What could be more interesting than learning more about your country, your world and the story of mankind?
